AWhat moves eGFR

17 of 27 studied

In human studies, 5 of the 27 supplements and practices researched so far raised eGFR and 1 changed it without a clear direction. 9 showed no change and 2 had mixed results. 10 were never studied for it.

Moves it6

Human studies found a change. The grade reflects the studies behind it, from A (strongest) to D.

Vitamin D3RaisesGrade A
MelatoninRaisesGrade A
NACRaisesGrade A

NAC raises eGFR.

BerberineRaisesGrade B
L-carnitineArtifactGrade B

L-carnitine shifts the eGFR reading, likely a measurement artifact rather than a real change.

MagnesiumRaisesGrade B

Magnesium raises eGFR.

Studied, no change9

Studies looked and found no meaningful change. That is a result, not missing data.

Vitamin ENo changeGrade A
CreatineNo changeGrade A

Studies of Creatine found no change in eGFR.

NAD+No changeGrade A
Omega-3No changeGrade A

Studies of Omega-3 found no change in eGFR.

IronNo changeGrade B
CollagenNo changeGrade B
TaurineNo changeGrade B
AshwagandhaNo changeGrade C
Red yeast riceNo changeGrade C

Studies of Red yeast rice found no change in eGFR.

Mixed results2

Studies disagree, or the direction depends on who was studied.

Not studied10

No usable human study has measured eGFR with these. A gap is not a negative result: nobody has looked.

Why trials measure it. Trials use it as the standard summary of kidney function and kidney safety.

About this marker: Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR) and GFR Tests (MedlinePlus, U.S. National Library of Medicine).

Evidence states come from published human studies found in PubMed and OpenAlex and read by a model pipeline. "Not studied" means no usable human study was found for this marker, which is a gap, not a negative result. Every result links its studies so you can check it.
